The process

Brief. Slate. Engagement. Support.

Curated matching at Seat & Signal runs in four steps, whether the seat is fractional, interim, or on a board. The company pays a flat success fee quoted before work begins; the Executive never pays for matching or placement and contracts with you directly.

The four steps, in detail.

  1. Brief. A discovery call defines the role, scope, stage, and budget. This is also where we sort engagement shape — fractional, interim, or board — because the model matters more than the title. We tell you honestly whether our member can fill it, and decline mandates we cannot serve well.
  2. Slate. You receive two to three vetted executives, each with written reasoning for the fit — not a directory of two hundred maybes. For fractional engagements, slates typically arrive in days; board slates within two weeks. Every executive has approved the specific introduction before you see a name.
  3. Engagement. You contract directly with the Executive at their rates. Our flat success fee is invoiced at signature — we take nothing from the Executive’s fees, and we are not a party to your engagement.
  4. Support. Engaged executives are backed by The Collective’s community and standards. The specific terms of every engagement — including remedies — are set out plainly in the agreement you sign.
